Ezekiel 19

Ezekiel 19

Ezekiel sings a lamentation over the princes of Israel, comparing the house of David to a lioness and her cubs. The first young lion (Jehoahaz) is captured and taken to Egypt. The second young lion (Jehoiachin) is also captured and taken to Babylon. The prophet then compares the nation to a fruitful vine that was planted by the waters, but was violently pulled up by God's wrath, dried out, and consumed by fire. The psalm concludes that the fire consumed all its strong rods, and there is no longer any strong branch to rule.
