Ezekiel 33

Ezekiel 33

God reaffirms Ezekiel’s role as the watchman over the house of Israel. God repeats the fundamental principle of individual responsibility: if the watchman fails to warn the people, their blood will be on his hands. If the wicked turn from their sin, they will live. If the righteous turn to sin, they will die. God then gives the prophet news that Jerusalem has fallen, which opens Ezekiel's mouth to preach freely after years of restricted speech. God condemns those in the land who rely on past promises while living wickedly.
