Ezekiel 40

Ezekiel 40

This chapter begins Ezekiel's final, extended vision: a tour of a new, future Temple. Ezekiel is transported by God to a very high mountain in the land of Israel, where a man with a linen line and a measuring rod begins to measure the Temple complex. The prophet records the detailed measurements of the outer court, the gates, and the surrounding chambers, emphasizing the massive scale, precise dimensions, and strict order of this future, ideal place of worship.

Hosea 1

God commands Hosea to marry a promiscuous wife, Gomer, to symbolize Israel's spiritual adultery (unfaithfulness) against God. Their children are given symbolic names representing God's judgment.

Hosea 2

God uses the analogy of marriage to condemn Israel's pursuit of idols. God promises to strip Gomer bare but will eventually woo her back in the wilderness, restoring her and making an everlasting covenant of peace.
