Ezekiel 8

Ezekiel 8

Ezekiel is transported in a vision to Jerusalem to see the terrible idolatry being committed in the very Temple courts. God shows him four abominations: an idol of jealousy near the altar, seventy elders secretly worshipping images of creeping things, women weeping for the pagan god Tammuz (a fertility deity), and 25 men at the Temple entrance worshipping the sun toward the east. This vision justifies God's impending judgment on the city and explains why God's glory is about to depart from the Temple.
