Ezra 10

Ezra 10

A large assembly of the people of Israel gathers around Ezra in deep mourning. Shecaniah proposes that the community make a covenant with God to put away their foreign wives and their children, according to Ezra's counsel. Ezra demands that the men who married foreign women present themselves in Jerusalem within three days. After an investigation, the people confess their sin. Ezra works with the leaders and priests to enforce the covenant, and a list of the men who had married foreign women is compiled, officially establishing the required separation.
