Ezra 6

Ezra 6

King Darius orders a search of the royal archives and finds the original decree from King Cyrus in the fortress of Ecbatana, confirming the Jews have the full royal authorization to rebuild the Temple and that the expenses should be paid from the royal treasury. Darius commands Tattenai and his officials not to interfere with the work and threatens anyone who violates the decree. The Temple is finally completed with great speed and the aid of the Persian government, and the returned exiles joyfully dedicate the new Temple and celebrate the Passover.
