Ezra 7
Many years after the Temple is finished, Ezra, a priest and scribe skilled in the Law of Moses, travels from Babylon to Jerusalem. Ezra had devoted himself to studying and obeying the Law and teaching it in Israel. King Artaxerxes gives Ezra a letter granting him full authority to travel, take silver and gold from Babylon for the Temple, and establish judges and magistrates to administer the Law of God throughout the province. This new wave of returnees travels to Jerusalem, emphasizing spiritual and legal authority.
