Ezra 8

Ezra 8

Ezra gathers the second wave of returning exiles who are traveling with him. Before beginning the dangerous journey, Ezra proclaims a fast beside the Ahava Canal to ask God for safe passage, as he was too ashamed to ask the King for a military escort after boasting of God's protection. Ezra separates the silver, gold, and consecrated vessels, weighing them and entrusting them to the priests for safe keeping. After their journey, the exiles arrive safely in Jerusalem, deliver the treasures to the Temple, and offer sacrifices to God.
