Genesis 11

Genesis 11

Humanity gathers in Shinar (Mesopotamia) and decides to build a great city and a massive tower, the Tower of Babel, intended to reach heaven and make a name for themselves, defying God's command to spread across the earth. God sees this unified pride and judges their rebellion by confusing their language, making them unable to understand one another. This forces them to scatter across the globe, fulfilling God's original command and introducing the multiplicity of human languages. The chapter concludes with the genealogy of Terah, the father of Abram.
