Genesis 12

Genesis 12

God calls Abram (later Abraham) to leave his homeland, his family, and his father's house to travel to a land He will show him. God gives Abram the foundational Abrahamic Covenant: He promises to make Abram into a great nation, bless him, make his name great, and through him, bless all the families of the earth. Abram obeys and travels to Canaan. Due to a famine, he journeys to Egypt, where he first commits the fearful sin of lying about his wife, Sarah, to protect himself.
