Genesis 30

Genesis 30

The rivalry between Leah and Rachel intensifies over their inability to bear children. Both sisters use their female servants, Bilhah and Zilpah, as surrogates, bearing Jacob several more sons (Dan, Naphtali, Gad, Asher). God eventually remembers Rachel, who gives birth to her first son, Joseph. Jacob then asks Laban to allow him to return home, but Laban convinces him to stay, offering a new arrangement involving speckled and spotted livestock. Jacob uses clever breeding techniques, and God blesses him with immense wealth.
