Genesis 33

Genesis 33

Jacob and Esau finally reunite. Jacob, deeply humbled and bowing seven times, approaches Esau, expecting the worst. However, Esau runs to meet him, embraces him, and weeps. The brothers reconcile completely. Jacob insists that Esau accept his large gift as a sign of peace. Esau returns home, and Jacob travels on, setting up camp near Shechem, where he buys a piece of land and builds an altar, calling it El-Elohe-Israel (God, the God of Israel), marking his renewed commitment to the Lord.
