Genesis 48

Genesis 48

Jacob, nearing death, summons Joseph and his two sons, Manasseh (the older) and Ephraim (the younger). Jacob formally adopts the two boys, elevating them to the status of his own sons and establishing them as two tribes of Israel. Jacob then performs a blessing, purposefully crossing his arms to place his right hand (the main blessing) on the younger son, Ephraim, signifying that the younger would become the greater of the two tribes, reiterating the theme of God choosing the younger over the elder.
