Genesis 50

Genesis 50

The chapter opens with the deeply emotional funeral of Jacob, which is carried out with great honor in Egypt and then solemnly observed in Canaan, fulfilling Jacob's final wish. After the burial, Joseph's brothers, still fearing revenge, approach him and beg for forgiveness. Joseph reassures them, proclaiming the powerful truth: ""You meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive."" Joseph lives to the age of 110, sees his great-grandchildren, and on his deathbed, makes the Israelites promise to carry his bones out of Egypt when God leads them out.
