Hosea 5

Hosea 5

God pronounces judgment upon the priests, the house of Israel, and the house of the king for leading the nation into idolatry and rebellion. God declares that He is a silent moth and a silent lion to them, slowly consuming their strength. When the people finally seek God in their affliction, God knows their true motive is not sincere. God condemns both Israel and Judah for seeking alliances with Assyria instead of seeking the Lord. God promises to be like a lion to them, tearing them and carrying them away.
