Hosea 8

Hosea 8

God sounds the alarm, warning that the enemy will come like an eagle against the house of the Lord because they have transgressed God's covenant. God condemns Israel for setting up kings without God's authority and using their silver and gold to make idols, leading to their destruction. God declares that their frequent, costly sacrifices are utterly rejected. They are sent back to the idolatry of Egypt and Assyria, but not for safety—they are going there to suffer punishment.
