Isaiah 14

Isaiah 14

Following the prophecy of Babylon's fall, the prophet foretells the return of Israel from exile. When the Lord restores Israel, the returning exiles will taunt the defeated King of Babylon with a scornful song. The song describes the king's arrogance, comparing him to Lucifer (the morning star) who attempted to ascend to heaven and set his throne above God. He is now cast down to the grave. God reaffirms His firm purpose to destroy the Assyrian power completely and declares the judgment on the Philistines.
