Isaiah 17

Isaiah 17

This chapter delivers an oracle against Damascus (Syria) and Ephraim (Northern Israel), predicting their swift and simultaneous destruction. Damascus will become a ruinous heap, and the strength of Israel will decline, becoming like a single grape left after the harvest. The prophet laments that Israel has forgotten God, their Rock of salvation, instead planting pagan gardens. God promises that when the enemy nations roar like mighty waters against Israel, God will rebuke them, and they will flee like chaff before the wind.
