Isaiah 1

Isaiah 1

Isaiah confronts Judah and Jerusalem, calling them a sinful nation that has rebelled against God, acting like disobedient children. The prophet describes the nation as wounded and diseased from head to foot, left desolate by their enemies. God declares that He is tired of their empty, hypocritical sacrifices and religious festivals. God urges the people to repent and enter into a dialogue: "Come now, and let us reason together, though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow." He promises restoration if they obey, but destruction if they refuse.
