Isaiah 20

Isaiah 20

This short, dramatic chapter describes an event that served as a prophetic sign. God commands Isaiah to remove his sackcloth and sandals and walk around Jerusalem naked and barefoot for three years. This shocking public display symbolizes the shameful nakedness and captivity that will befall the people of Egypt and Cush when the King of Assyria conquers them. The prophet warns the people of Judah not to rely on Egypt and Cush for help, as they will themselves be taken away as captives.
