Isaiah 22

Isaiah 22

God pronounces an oracle against the Valley of Vision (Jerusalem). The people of Jerusalem, instead of humbling themselves and weeping over the imminent attack, are seen celebrating on their rooftops. God reveals that the inhabitants will soon flee from the invader. The chapter focuses on the leadership: God condemns a wicked official named Shebna for his pride and luxurious tomb. God promises to replace him with a faithful servant named Eliakim, who will be given the key of the house of David, symbolizing Messianic authority.
