Isaiah 28

Isaiah 28

The prophet pronounces a severe woe against Ephraim (the Northern Kingdom of Israel), whose pride and drunkenness will lead to its sudden, brutal destruction by the Assyrians, who will trample its glorious crown underfoot. Isaiah then turns to the leaders of Judah, condemning their drunken arrogance and reliance on flawed human treaties. God promises that He will lay a foundation stone in Zion—a tested, precious cornerstone—and whoever trusts in it will never be put to shame.
