Isaiah 31

Isaiah 31

The prophet repeats the woe against those who trust in Egypt for military power, relying on horses and chariots instead of seeking the Lord. God reminds them that He is wise and can bring disaster on the allies just as easily as on the enemies. When Assyria comes, the mighty men of Egypt will flee, and their strength will fail. God promises to protect Jerusalem like a lion guarding its prey, defending the city from the Assyrian army with His outstretched arm, ensuring their ultimate deliverance.
