Isaiah 33

Isaiah 33

The prophet pronounces a woe on the Assyrian invader who has betrayed his treaties. God promises to destroy the enemy. The righteous in Jerusalem trust in the Lord and know that God will soon vindicate them. The chapter asks, "Who among us can dwell with the consuming fire?" The answer is the one who walks righteously and speaks honestly. The chapter concludes with a glorious promise: the people of Jerusalem will see their King in His beauty, their city will be secure, and their sins will be forgiven.
