Isaiah 34

Isaiah 34

The prophet foretells the Day of the Lord’s vengeance against all the nations, with a focus on Edom (symbolic of all enemies of God). The judgment will be cosmic and total: the heavens will be rolled up like a scroll, and God's wrath will fall upon Edom, turning its land into burning pitch and ashes. The land will be left desolate forever, inhabited only by wild beasts, owls, and jackals, becoming a permanent monument to God’s righteous, eternal indignation against injustice.
