Isaiah 44

Isaiah 44

God promises to pour out His Spirit and blessing upon Israel’s descendants, ensuring they will flourish. God again challenges the idol worshippers, mocking the practice of taking a single piece of wood, burning half to warm themselves and bake bread, and carving the other half into an idol to bow down to. God declares that Israel is His servant, whom He formed, and promises, "I have blotted out your transgressions like a cloud." God announces that Cyrus is His shepherd, who will command the rebuilding of Jerusalem and the Temple.
