Isaiah 51

Isaiah 51

God encourages the people of Israel to look back to their origins—to Abraham (the rock from which they were hewn) and Sarah—who was one, yet God blessed him and made him numerous. God promises to comfort Zion and make her desolate places like the Garden of Eden. God assures them not to fear the reproach of mortals, for He is their comforter. God promises to deliver them from the bondage of Babylon and commands the people to "Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of the Lord!"
