Isaiah 58

Isaiah 58

The prophet addresses the hypocrisy of the people who diligently fast, but do so while oppressing their workers, engaging in strife, and failing to seek justice. God describes the true fast He desires: to loose the bonds of injustice, to share bread with the hungry, and to bring the poor and homeless into your house. If they practice true righteousness, God promises that their light will break forth like the dawn, and they will be rebuilt. God commands them to honor the Sabbath and find their delight in it.
