Isaiah 61

Isaiah 61

The prophet speaks powerfully as the Anointed One (the Messiah), declaring, "The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound." The Anointed One will comfort all who mourn, give them beauty for ashes, and cause them to rebuild the ancient ruins. God promises to establish an everlasting covenant with His people, clothing them in the garments of salvation and righteousness.
