Isaiah 6

Isaiah receives his magnificent call to be a prophet in the year that King Uzziah died. Isaiah sees the Lord seated on a high throne, with the seraphim calling out, "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts!" Isaiah is overcome by his own sinfulness, crying out, "Woe is me, for I am ruined!" A seraph touches his lips with a burning coal from the altar, purifying his sin. God asks, "Whom shall I send?" and Isaiah volunteers, "Here am I. Send me!" God then tells Isaiah his message will be one of hardness and resistance until the land is utterly desolate.
