Isaiah 8

Isaiah 8

God instructs Isaiah to write a name on a large tablet: "Maher-Shalal-Hash-Baz" (Quick to the Plunder, Swift to the Spoil), symbolizing the swift destruction of Syria and Israel by Assyria. The child born to Isaiah will bear this name. Isaiah prophesies that because Judah rejects the quiet waters of Shiloh (God’s provision) and fears their enemies, the mighty, overwhelming flood of Assyria will soon cover the land. Isaiah urges his disciples to trust in the Lord and rejects the practice of consulting mediums and spiritists, encouraging them to seek instruction from the Law and Testimony.
