Job 19

Job 19

Job pleads with his friends to stop tormenting him with their words, asking them to show pity instead of cruelty. He describes the absolute isolation of his suffering: God has besieged him, removed his brothers, alienated his friends, and even made his servants and wife reject him. Despite this utter abandonment, Job expresses a profound and famous declaration of faith: "I know that my Redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand upon the earth." Job expresses the hope that he will personally see God, even after his skin is destroyed.
