Job 1

Job 1

Job, a righteous man from the land of Uz, is described as blameless, upright, and blessed with vast wealth (seven sons, three daughters, and thousands of livestock). In heaven, Satan challenges God, claiming that Job only serves Him because of the blessings, suggesting that if God removes the protection, Job will curse Him. God grants Satan permission to test Job, but prohibits him from harming Job's body. In a single day, four disasters strike: Sabeans steal his oxen and donkeys, fire consumes his sheep, Chaldeans steal his camels, and a wind collapses the house, killing all his children. Job tears his robe but declares, "The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord."
