Job 29

Job 29

Job powerfully recalls the glory days of his former life, remembering the time when God’s favor was upon him. He describes his past as a time of immense respect, honor, and influence: elders stood when he entered the gate, people sought his advice, and he acted as a generous champion for the poor, the widow, and the orphan. His feet were washed with cream, and the rock poured out oil for him. Job longs for that former intimacy with God and the respect he received before his suffering began.
