Job 31

Job 31

Job delivers his final, most comprehensive defense, swearing a long, detailed oath of purgation to demonstrate his ethical blamelessness. He denies committing sins ranging from adultery and lust to dishonesty, oppression of his servants, mistreatment of the poor, and idol worship. Job is so confident in his integrity that he wishes his adversary would write his accusation so he could wear it as a crown. He concludes by stating that if he has done any of these evils, he deserves to be utterly destroyed.
