John 16

John 16

Jesus warns His disciples that the world will persecute them and even cast them out of the synagogues, believing they are offering a service to God. He explains that His departure is necessary so the Helper (Holy Spirit) can come, who will convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. Jesus promises that their present sorrow will turn into unending joy, like a woman rejoicing after childbirth. He concludes by assuring them, "In the world you will have tribulation; but take courage, I have overcome the world."
