Nicodemus, a leading Pharisee and member of the Sanhedrin, visits Jesus secretly at night. Jesus proclaims the most famous verse in the Bible: "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son." The chapter concludes with John the Baptist declaring that his ministry is decreasing while Jesus’s must increase, confirming Jesus's supreme authority.
