John 8

John 8

The religious leaders bring a woman caught in adultery to Jesus, attempting to trap Him. Jesus responds by saying, "Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her." Her accusers quietly leave. Jesus tells the woman to go and sin no more. Jesus then declares, "I am the light of the world." He confronts the Jews for being children of the devil, not Abraham. Jesus makes the profound claim, "Before Abraham was born, I am!," causing them to try and stone Him.
