Joshua 13

Joshua 13

The wars have largely concluded, and the land is quiet, but God reminds the now-old Joshua that "very much of the land remains to be possessed." God then instructs Joshua to begin the process of dividing the land among the nine and a half tribes, even the territories not yet fully cleared of inhabitants. The chapter explicitly details the land assigned to the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and half of Manasseh, whose inheritance was already settled east of the Jordan by Moses.
