Joshua 16

Joshua 16

The inheritance of the tribes descended from Joseph—Ephraim and the remaining half-tribe of Manasseh—is described. The boundaries of Ephraim’s territory are detailed, located generally in the central highlands. It notes that Ephraim, like Judah, failed to drive out the Canaanites who lived in Gezer, instead making them live among them, which marked another critical, incomplete obedience in the conquest that would later lead to trouble.
