Joshua 17

Joshua 17

The boundaries and settlements for the half-tribe of Manasseh (west of the Jordan) are defined. This chapter also records the successful plea of the daughters of Zelophehad to receive a land inheritance among their brothers, upholding the law established in the book of Numbers. Like the other tribes, Manasseh failed to drive out the Canaanites from several key cities, showing a pattern of compromise due to laziness or lack of faith throughout the conquest.
