Joshua 1

Joshua 1

Following the death of Moses, God commissions Joshua to take on the leadership role and lead Israel into the Promised Land. God repeatedly commands Joshua to be strong and very courageous, promising to be with him just as He was with Moses. God emphasizes that success is conditional upon meditating on the Book of the Law and obeying it completely. Joshua immediately prepares the people and reminds the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and half of Manasseh to keep their promise to send their armed men across the Jordan River to help conquer the land.
