Judges 18

Judges 18

The tribe of Dan is seeking a new territory because they failed to conquer their original allotment. They send five spies who stop at Micah's house in Ephraim and persuade the hired Levite to prophesy good fortune for their journey. The Danites return with 600 armed men, steal all of Micah’s idols, and persuade the Levite priest to join them. They then conquer the peaceful northern city of Laish, brutally kill its inhabitants, and rename it Dan, where they establish Micah's idols and the Levite as their tribal priest.
