Judges 20

Judges 20

The horrific crime committed in Gibeah ignites outrage among the other eleven tribes of Israel, who gather at Mizpah and demand that the tribe of Benjamin surrender the perpetrators. Benjamin refuses and prepares for war. The eleven tribes attack the Benjamites, but the Benjamites defeat the Israelites in two devastating battles, killing 40,000 men. The Israelites weep and seek God, who finally grants them victory. They utterly destroy the Benjamite army (leaving only 600 men alive) and burn all the cities of Benjamin.
