Judges 5

Judges 5

This chapter records the magnificent Song of Deborah and Barak, a victory ode celebrating God's triumph over the Canaanite forces. The song is a powerful piece of Hebrew poetry, praising the leaders who willingly went to battle and describing the chaotic, supernatural power of God that routed Sisera's forces. It especially praises Jael for her fearless action. The song serves to glorify God as the true deliverer of Israel and ends with the declaration that God’s friends should be as powerful as the sun rising in full strength.
