Judges 7

Judges 7

The immense army of the Midianites gathers. God tells Gideon that his army of 32,000 is too large, lest Israel boast they saved themselves. The army is reduced first to 10,000, then finally to only 300 men, selected by how they drink water (lapping it up while watchful). Gideon and his 300 men surround the vast Midianite camp at night. Each man carries a trumpet, a torch, and a clay jar. At Gideon's signal, they smash the jars and blow the trumpets. The resulting noise and light cause the Midianites to panic, turning their swords on each other, securing a victory that belonged entirely to God.
