Leviticus 13

Leviticus 13

This long and detailed chapter deals entirely with the diagnosis and management of infectious skin diseases, primarily leprosy (tzara’at). The priest acts as the health inspector, examining spots and swellings on the skin, clothing, or houses. If a case is confirmed as chronic and dangerous, the person is declared unclean and must live outside the camp, signifying ritual separation from the community and God’s presence. This system was vital for protecting the communal health and ritual purity of the camp.
