Leviticus 24

Leviticus 24

The first part of this chapter commands the continuous maintenance of the golden lampstand (Menorah) with pure olive oil. The second part deals with the Bread of the Presence (Showbread), which must be placed in two stacks of six loaves on the table in the Tabernacle every Sabbath. The third section narrates the story of a man, half-Egyptian and half-Israelite, who blasphemes the Lord's name. God commands that the blasphemer be stoned outside the camp, and the law of retaliation ("eye for eye") is reiterated for severe injury or murder.
