Matthew 14

Matthew 14

This chapter opens with the tragic execution of John the Baptist by Herod Antipas, who was pressured by Herodias's daughter. When Jesus hears the news, He retreats to a solitary place. Crowds follow Him, and Jesus miraculously feeds five thousand men (plus women and children) using only five loaves and two fish, with twelve baskets of leftovers. Later, during a storm, Jesus walks on water. Peter tries to join Him but sinks when his faith falters, leading the disciples to worship Jesus as the Son of God.
