Matthew 16

Matthew 16

The Pharisees and Sadducees demand Jesus perform a miraculous sign from heaven. Jesus refuses, warning His disciples to beware of the "leaven" (false teachings) of the religious leaders. Jesus then asks His disciples, "Who do people say the Son of Man is?" When He asks, "Who do you say I am?" Simon Peter correctly declares, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." Jesus then gives Peter the keys to the Kingdom. He teaches that to follow Him, disciples must deny themselves, take up their cross, and follow Him.
